Montrail Torre GTX Hiking Boots
November 23, 2008 | | TrackBacks

Bought these puppies a month before my Grand Canyon adventure.. and spent it wearing in non-stop for that month as well as the amazing 3-day experience. I will admit that my feet where the last thing I thought about.. well not really.. my feet in fact were always at full attention but the shoes did an amazing job. Waterproof, high ankle protection, sturdy and EXTREMELY comfortable! Lots of toe-room space and the standard soles did well. Highly recommended and it may cost a little bit expensive ($120) but remember it is a pro hiking boot and does its job well. Certain things you dont compromise and your feet is one of them.

Brooks Adrenaline GTS 7

New Year’s Resolution?? Well, not quite, but I was asked to run in a 5k in a few months, so I thought it might be a good idea to at least be able to finish it. So with running not ranking very high on my activity list, I solicited the advice of experts (the shoe people at Dick’s Sporting Goods). I explained that running is usually a very painful experience (like driving nails into my legs) for me and that a 5k wasn’t something I was really looking forward to, but said I would do. To my amazement, the experts explained that this pain could be caused by not wearing the proper ‘running shoes’ and that with the right equipment I might actually enjoy running (I know, try not to laugh). So after trying on several pair of ‘running shoes’, I finally selected the Adrenaline GTS 7 by Brooks (retail at $94.95). This shoe is super light weight, has a slick black/blue/zinc/white/grey color scheme, and comes with a long cushioned midsole that actually provides a comfort when pounding the pavement. I’m now running two plus miles with zero pain in my legs (my lungs are a different story) and no longer despise the activity with every fiber of my being. A very comfortable shoe that seems to forgive my heel to toe stride (I don’t know if that’s good, but I was once told running should be done on the balls of your feet. Again, I am not a running expert). So forgiving my complete incompetence of all things running, this shoe has been perfect for me and a definite rating’s HIT! And who knows, after a couple of 5ks, I might actually like running (providing I live through the first one).

Dansko Closed-back Clogs - Professional
November 13, 2006 | | Comments (1) | TrackBacks

If I didn’t know I would get bored, and if I didn’t know you really can’t wear these with a kicky little skirt or a tailored dress, I would wear no other shoes but these in many different colors and styles.  Since I don’t do that, I can tell you that on the day after I wear my 3-inch sling backs because they just look oh-so-good with my suit; I wear my Danskos and my feet forgive me.  On the days I’m in Danskos, I feel energized and get more done – I swear!  Comfortable shoes with a platform to make me taller!  They have other styles I haven’t tried, but I love the look and feel of these closed-back clogs.  I have a black pair and also the brown pair like the one pictured here – which still look great when I’m kicking around and scuffing them up!  I’m going for the zebra-striped next, and the black patent leather will look good with my black dress slacks…at about $100 - $125 a pair.

Skechers Straightaway Bikers
November 8, 2006 | | Comments (1) | TrackBacks

Yes, I got ANOTHER pair of black shoes this weekend. I bought Skecher's Black Straightaway tennis shoes. Actually, they call them biker shoes. I wore the shoes for 10 hours right after I bought them and none of that wearing-in-new-shoes business this time--they were as comfortable as wearing slippers. They gave my jeans and t-shirt a little style instead of the normal chunky pair of tennis shoes. I was able to get them for $31 from Rack Room on sale although the regular price is $54. And I just found out they come in 12 colors...chocolate and pink, gray and orange, oh the possibilities!

Asics GEL-KAYANO® XI

Kayano
Being a runner, and having done it for as long as I can remember, I know the importance of good running shoes, specially if you experience ankle pain or shin splints when you run (I dont get either). Rule of thumb dictates that shoes shouldnt be worn past 300 miles and thats why I change mine often. My current  ones are the Kayano XI, which is an amazing shoe in terms of cushioning, and support. They feel absolutely great, be it a 3 or 6 mile run (the only two distances that I run at any one time). They arent the lightest ones on the market, however if you have weaker joints that may give in and inhibit your optimal cardio workout, then this is definately a good shoe. Again, Its a little heavier than previous shoes Ive had, and the weight is probably due to the excessive support and padding, however if its about support versus joint pain, Id much rather carry the extra weight. The shoe can be had for in the US $120.00 range. This may be an overkill in terms of support for those of us who dont have weak joints.

Rockport Borrego Springs Sandals
September 14, 2006 | | TrackBacks

Not really wanting to spend full shoe price on half a shoe, I finally broke down and bought a pair of Rockport sandals.  Having several pair (4) of Rockport shoes, I have grown accustomed to a certain level of comfort that is usually unattainable in a sandal.  But to my surprise, the Borrego Springs sandals (Rack Room Shoes $49.99) lived up to the Rockport name.  Lightweight, complete leather, and extremely comfortable have made these my first option when available.  After a few hours of wear, the foam has molded into a “Just for Me” feel that makes it tough to take off.   And though for me a little high for sandals, they are still better than most on the market.  A good deal for people who like sandals or those looking to break into the sandal-lifestyle.
