| New Year’s Resolution?? Well, not quite, but I was asked to run in a 5k in a few months, so I thought it might be a good idea to at least be able to finish it. So with running not ranking very high on my activity list, I solicited the advice of experts (the shoe people at Dick’s Sporting Goods). I explained that running is usually a very painful experience (like driving nails into my legs) for me and that a 5k wasn’t something I was really looking forward to, but said I would do. To my amazement, the experts explained that this pain could be caused by not wearing the proper ‘running shoes’ and that with the right equipment I might actually enjoy running (I know, try not to laugh). So after trying on several pair of ‘running shoes’, I finally selected the Adrenaline GTS 7 by Brooks (retail at $94.95). This shoe is super light weight, has a slick black/blue/zinc/white/grey color scheme, and comes with a long cushioned midsole that actually provides a comfort when pounding the pavement. I’m now running two plus miles with zero pain in my legs (my lungs are a different story) and no longer despise the activity with every fiber of my being. A very comfortable shoe that seems to forgive my heel to toe stride (I don’t know if that’s good, but I was once told running should be done on the balls of your feet. Again, I am not a running expert). So forgiving my complete incompetence of all things running, this shoe has been perfect for me and a definite rating’s HIT! And who knows, after a couple of 5ks, I might actually like running (providing I live through the first one). |
