Orasco Sesame Bar with Honey and Natural Orange Flavor
June 12, 2007 | | TrackBacks

Well my friend and I started becoming mmm I guess you can say healthy and are trying all these organic foods. When she first handed me an Orasco Sesame bar, I was thinking I wasn’t going to like snacking on this instead of a muffin or something. Let me tell you how amazing these taste though. They actually make my mouth water for more. I love my morning snack now and feel healthy all day long and they truly do fill you up so you want to snack more. That is a huge thing for me because whenever I have a morning snack, I always end up wanting more food not even ten minutes after that. I cannot wait to try more of the organic bars. I definitely recommend these to anyone who is trying to eat healthier and wants a good snack.

Edy's Dibs - Cookies and Cream
June 5, 2007 | | TrackBacks

I only got to try two of the Edy’s Dibs and that was the cookies and cream and the crunch bar. I LOVED the cookies and cream. I am a huge chocolate person and the cookies and cream hit the spot. I can tell you how good they are by they way my co-workers were so rude by digging into them before I even got to open the box. I snatched those up and took them home and ended up eating the rest of the box that night. Those 60 bites go FAST especially when they are that good. I will most definitely want to try many more flavors like the mint or even the drumstick coating. They have every flavor you could ask for so that everyone could enjoy. If you ever want a snack to pop in your mouth…these are definite snack that hits the spot

Wendy's Chicken Salad Frescata Sandwich
April 5, 2007 | | TrackBacks

I'm not a big fan of Wendy's (besides the Frosty's of course). That being said, I've found myself there twice in the past week. And both times I've gotten their new Chicken Salad Frescata sandwich. The chicken is big, white, chunky pieces drowned in some type of light mayonaise sauce. It comes with tomato and lettuce, but you know, I gotta put that aside. The bread has been fresh, which makes it even more scrumptious. And the sandwich is huge and filling, no need for unhealthy fries to fill you up. So "do what tastes right" and go try one!

Almonds
April 3, 2007 | | Comments (1) | TrackBacks

I've recently had to re-evaluate my dietary habits.. for a variety of reasons.. and have realized that my snacking habits were the worst.. so I've now found a healthy snack which is cheap, extremely healthy and tastes good! Almonds are available everywhere and here are 5 quick reasons you need to start snacking on them:

1. Almonds - and all nuts - lower cholesterol.

2. They may help you lose weight.

3. They are full of heart-healthy monounsaturated fats and vitamin E (good for heart and disease prevention)

4. They contain loads of magnesium, a mineral of which most people don't get enough.

5. Almonds lower the rise in blood sugar and insulin that happens after eating, making them a good tool in the arsenal against diabetes.

6. Protein! Don't ever again ask a vegan how he or she gets enough protein. A quarter cup of almonds contains more protein than an egg

Next time you're at your local grocery store, hit the fresh produce section and grab a package of natural whole almonds and if anyone has ideas on how to incorporate them into other meals. post them below!

Fiber One Oats and Chocolate
April 2, 2007 | | TrackBacks

Yummy. That pretty much sums up these bars. They are chewy, made sweet by something that tastes of honey and has small chunks of chocolate inside and drizzled on top. It actually reminds me of the consistency of a rice crispy bar. Soft and chewy, but not stick to your teeth kind of chewy. And just enough chocolate to feel like a "real snack" and yet they tell me it's good for me. AND, my kids think it's a chocolate chip cookie shaped like a bar. So yay for us being healthy! My only concern might be for people who like a little crunch in their health bars. I've tasted some recently that had whole nuts in it and it was actually a good texture with it. And seeing the pack only comes with 5 bars (um, hello, we could eat that in a day), I'm sure we'll be buying plenty more boxes.

Tostitos Creamy Spinach Dip
March 27, 2007 | | Comments (5) | TrackBacks

"Come try this!" That's the first thing I said after taking a bite of this spinach dip. It tastes good cool or warm. It's great with tortilla chips or even bread. Only bad thing is it's quite addictive. But it has spinach in it so I think that counts for my veggie of the day!

PepperRidge Farm Mini Brown Sugar Bagels with Strawberry Fruit Spread
March 15, 2007 | | TrackBacks

Krakatoa! I just had 3 at one sitting.. I intended to only have one, but after pulling one mini bagel (Calorie Count) out of the bag I decided to get one more just incase it didnt stop my hunger pangs *they are mini bagels!*.. I lathered on the strawberry fruit spread nice and thick.. *i said they were mini bagels* I work in a corporate environment so I'm used to the generic bagels with plain or veggie spreads *ick* so I was really surprised when I had this version. I also like my bagels without any seeds, I dont want to worry about things being caught in my teeth, so baked in flavors like cinnamon and brown sugar are the way to go. So now you know why I got a 3rd one.

I really enjoyed how simple it was to make and how great the two tasted together. I didnt bother toasting or anything.. and I do tend to prefer my breakfast food on the sweeter side and this was perfect. Now I just need to find a really good drink to go with this..

Hamburger Helper Microwave Singles - Cheesy Beef Taco
March 14, 2007 | | Comments (2) | TrackBacks

Meals which are typically in a 'kit' Im not fond of.. but Ive got to admit to having had a LOT of Hamburger Helpers throughout my life.. (beef stroganoff is still my favorite). My daughter brought my attention to a new product line called 'Microwave Singles' within the Hamburger Helper family.. apparently lovely Betty Crocker has provided 4 products within this new line: Cheeseburger Macaroni, Cheesy Beef Taco, Cheesy Lasagna and Stroganoff. A box ($3-$4) comes with four single serving packets, so based on your appetite you can now scale up or down as necessary! I love dynamic portioning of meals and not having to deal with leftovers! My daughter only allowed me to have only two spoonfuls since this was a meal she was able to prepare herself.. funny how kids realize how good things taste when you put effort into making it! (Note: adult supervision is always required when kids prepare food) I was surprised to see that the packets came with beef.. now it's not the healthiest but it is a convenient snack when you know your kids are getting a good healthy diet.

Back to Nature - Granola Cereal
February 5, 2007 | | TrackBacks

I need a generous serving of protein every morning, thats simply because I work out every morning before heading to work and starting my day. This cereal that I mix in with high protein milk is my 2nd breakfast of the day (first is oat meal that have before heading to the gym). Its a good source of fiber with a lot of protein. Think of it as a granola bar on steroids, with the added benefit of being able to have it at any time of the day, along with my favorite food (milk) and it is simply my favorite mini meal or snack. The bag has 7 servings which I consume in 3, its not as big as a cereal box, and it sure does cost more, yet consider the amount of protein in this thing and it becomes well worth the price, not that you should ever consider saving money on food that is actually good for you when compared to an alternative thats bad :)

Breyer's Double Churned Light Ice Cream
November 27, 2006 | | Comments (4) | TrackBacks

My husband has a need to buy everything low-fat, no fat, light, low sugar, etc. Most of what he buys I can handle but I revolt when it comes to anything but regular ice cream--please see previous post on my family's devotion to ice cream. However. One time he came back with 2 half-gallons of light ice cream. One of which was Breyer's Double Churned, Extra Creamy, Light Chocolate Mocha Silk ice cream. The words creamy, chocolate and mocha were enough to make me try it. I was very impressed. If I had not read the label, my experienced taste buds would not have known the difference. I have also tried the Butter Pecan and although it wasn’t quite as good and creamy as regular Butter Pecan, it was definite a good substitute when you’re counting calories and fat--even if it's not by choice.

LAY'S Hot'n Spicy KC Masterpiece BBQ Flavored Potato Chips
October 18, 2006 | | Comments (3) | TrackBacks

*slurping a drink* hot and spicy.. more spicy than hot.. wait wait.. damn the heat!!! The dark-red devil colored bag is a tell-tale sign to the serious heat it's packing. Its a good treat.. the heat and spice factor does limit how much you eat therefore it lasts longer.. you dont end up feeling sick by having destroyed the entire bag of chips at a sitting.. not that I've done that. So i just did a nutrition comparison of the Baked Lays KC Masterpiece BBQ against my devil-friendly regular Hot 'n Spicy KC Masterpiece BBQ.. and found a difference of just 30 calories per serving.. Baked aint worth it.

Nature Valley Sweet & Salty Nut Granola Bar, Almond
September 17, 2006 | | Comments (1) | TrackBacks

Nature Valley Sweet Salt Almond
Sweet and Salty Nut Granola Bars Dipped in Almond Butter Coating.  This is not your standard granola bar.  Simply stated, now that I’ve found them, I can’t live without them.  I lead you to the nutritional information, which isn’t all good news, but eating one of these will replace your need to eat something way worse, like that candy bar.  Momma says put that down and go get some of these!  About 69 cents each or $3.29 for a box of six at your local grocery.
