New Screener Competition
April 2, 2007 | | Comments (1) | TrackBacks

We've got a new Screener competition! It took almost 4 months for someone to correctly identify the last one! We were hoping to have this be a monthly feature.. so come on and give it a guess! Make sure to use IMDB.com and other websites for research purposes. Best of Luck!

Important Services You Should Know
March 30, 2007 | | TrackBacks

There are services available now that that have made the age-old scratching your head and bugging friends for answers a thing of the past!

Escape a Bad Date
Popularity Dialer - have you ever been in a situation where you wished your cell phone would ring? No need to rely on a sibling or a buddy to get you out of trouble.. simply call submit a request on popularitydialer.com providing specifically what time and type of call to recieve! It's cool how they've got a 'return to office' and 'cousin in need' type of call options! This could've spared me from calling my brother during a nightmare date.

Name That Tune!
411song.com - hear a song you're just dying to identify? Well now you can call up 866-411-SONG and simply hold your cellphone up to the speaker for at least 15 seconds and a SMS will show up with the relevant information. Now it does cost a buck a call but cmon sometimes its worth it!

Amber Alerts
WirelessAmberAlerts.org - self explanatory I think.. SAVE CHILDREN! Service now allows you to punch in upto five zip codes you want alerts sent to you if a child is abducted within. They send the alerts free of charge, but naturally if your cellphone has a lousy plan where you get charged for messages.. upgrade it!

Celebrity Endorsements Gone Bad!
October 27, 2006 | | TrackBacks

Matina Hingis
Italian sneaker and tennis gear maker, Sergio Tacchnini, had provided then #1 ranked Martina a 5-year $5.6 million sponsorship, and required her to wear the shoes and clothes during all tournaments. Well, few years later Martina filed a lawsuit against the company stating that its shoes were defective, unsuitable for tournament play and caused her devastating injuries from wearing Tacchini shoes.

Cybill Shepherd
The Beef Industry Council enlisted Cybill to expound on her beef cravings for the "Real food for real people" campaign, but the whole thing backfired when Cybill admitted that she didn't eat meat.

OJ Simpson
Don't really need to say anything about OJ's double homicide charges causing Hertz to drop him.

Mariah Carey
Apparently Mariah's performance on the Pepsi commercial has jumped over and landed itself on awfulcommercials.com .. yes pun intended.. its the commercial where she's on a motorbike and jumps the pepsi sign.. as of late there seems to be quite a few people who could care less if a celebrity was peddling some product.

James Bond - Tomorrow Never Dies
James Bond's Ericsson phone. From Tomorrow Never Dies, although sadly without the lock-picking / fingerprint-scanning / enemy-spiking features that Bond could use. Shame.

Scrubs
This was an auction for a walk-on role in the funny show of Scrubs. Proceeds go towards National Multiple Sclerosis Society. So do a good enough of a job and you might get to see yerself for a blip of a second and show off about it.

Viva Rock Vegas: Flintstones
It's the prop car from the Flintstones movie. Apparently its not carved out of wood but foam and it actually does have an engine (electric motor) and brakes in it.. No need to stick yer feet out to brake apparently.

Battle of the Gods
Apparently the entertainment industry thinks theres big bucks in casting civilians into their projects.. Above we saw the one for scrubs.. now the game producers of Battle of the Gods are willing to animate a person in their video game. Dont expect to be on any 'list' just cause yer likeliness is on some game.

Subliminal Advertising / Product Placement

Nip/Tuck:
Francis Francis! X1 espresso machine - Lil' espresso machine in their break room. Lamborghini of the barista machines apparently.. fitting since Dr Christian Troy drives just that.

Monk
We know of Adrian and his OCD ways but what we've probably all missed is that he specifically used Lever 2000 antibacterial hand Wipes during the first couple of seasons and the Clorox version as of late. There was a scene where he was packing to Mexico and had a suitcase full of them!

Dog The Bounty Hunter
So we know he's always over-doing/acting/whatever it is he does.. but manages to catch the bad guy/gal at the end.. little did we realize that he does it all while wearing Oakley's Thump built-in mp3 sunglasses.. I'll have to find out what his mp3 collection is like.

Law & Order
The rumor is there's a Fedex truck in the background of the Manhattan scenes in nearly every episode. I wonder what kind of check Fedex had to write for a subliminal contract.

3 sided Televsion

Ever had a situation where three people wanted to watch three different things at the same time and just had to have a tv that could do that? well.. you need to do the normal thing and tell them to decide on one thing to watch.. and not spend $50k.

Geeky bling
Granted it is functional.. it's a USB flash-drive.. but Ive never equated geek technology with luxury.. I'm sure the google creators each have one with their names engraved.

Milk from Amazon.com
What!? Milk is only good for so many days.. to have it spend precious time in transit to your house in a delivery vehicle.. I'm not sure if they pack it with dry-ice like some online meat retailers but you have to be pretty bold to want this via online.

Diamond Lashes
Originally designed for Madonna.. .75 carats of diamonds laced onto the lashes.. the creator has now made a limited set of 7 pairs exclusively for Neiman Marcus customers at $10 grand each. Are you winking at me or do you have a diamond in your eye?

Weekend Purchases?

Funny: Celebrity Scale
Interested in knowing which celebrity you weight most like? I dont.. but apparently Angry Retail think there's a market for it.. very much a novelty product.
Luxury: Table Top Fireplace
$350 for a faux fireplace on your desk.. now.. before people buy this I hope they'd call a buddy up and get some sense talked into them.
Got Our Eyes On It: Sirius Stiletto 100 SL100
About time! Sirius have released a portable satellite radio device. Portable as in slide it into your pocket and jam out.
Pet lovers: Pet Plus
A wine glass for pets! Apparently Alice Wang has come up with a tilted wine glass allowing human companions better access to sip on the finer things in life..
Say What!?: Snoop Dogg Celebriduck
Umm.. for the up 'n coming hip-hop/rapper in your life.. get yer kid on the right track with a duckie that looks like Snoop D O double G
